I've been wanting to make a Pee Wee's playhouse miniature for some time now. I thought Jambi the Genie would be fun so I grabbed a chunk of clay and started molding! I still need to create his setting but hopefully in another week it will be complete and in my shop! Thank you for your visit! :* Razz

Cedric is the frontman of The Mars Volta and At The Drive-In. I have been listening to their music for several years and last year for Lollapalooza I got to see At The Drive In LIVE! Then, on Twitter, Cedric announced The Mars Volta brake up. I was so sad! Actually sad. I seen the Mars Volta live with System Of A Down back in 2005. It was amazing! They are one of my favorite bands. Not far after the brake up, Cedric also let us know about the new project he is working on with Juan Alderete, the bass player of the Volta. The beginning of June, I seen the announcement of the new band, Zavalaz. I quickly checked out the website and they were headed to my city and here's the next best part: TWO BLOCKS AWAY FROM MY HOUSE! YES! The day of the concert, I was waiting impatiently for the time to come. I live on a one way street. I knew the tour bus would be driving by my home a few hours before the evening to set up. My work/home computer is also facing this busy street. I jumped up every time I hear a loud truck or bus go by. About 3:30pm, it finally goes by as I'm working on a Facebook auction. I was still with no makeup on, messy hair bun, and pajama bottoms on! Bad perks of working from home, Haha! So I throw on a pullover Summer dress, and my newspaper clipping announcement for him to sign, (just in case I see him), and walk over to take a peek! I also threw on my sweater to cover up my shoulders, because it's nearly 100 degrees and I didn't want to get burnt up peeking and being nosey outside the music venue. So let me tell you, this was a very hot afternoon. The parking lot is quite open and during a normal walk by, there is hobos and drunks hanging out there. It's very close to the area I call Tower Rat Alley, where a lot of lost souls, drug infected teens and hobos hang out. I spot the tour bus and see a young couple close by, also hoping to catch a glimpse of Cedric. I make friendly conversation with the couple, girl is named is Diana, and watch Cedric walk back in forth in front of me, setting up with the crew and I watch in shock. I couldn't believe he was walking in front of me! He's just maybe 4-5 feet in front of me! When he was done, he came out to say hello and gave his autograph for me and the couple I was hanging with. He was nice and I congratulated him on his twins babies. *I wish I could have seen the Mrs, but maybe another time* Then we took pictures! He even put his arm around me! Eeek! Remember its hot? Yikes! I hope I didn't smell. Haha, but really, I knew it didn't matter what I looked like to him. It was just for the sake of my pic. I went home to get showered and ready to go to the concert that night. My neighbor went with me. We had so much fun! He was walking around the music venue, greeting people, hugging, smiling, making silly faces at the camera, and even sat down to watch the first band perform. After the concert, before we went home we seen him again out back taking pics with other happy fans. I wish I got a pic with Juan, the bass player, but he looked really busy loading up. I should have taken more pics, but just watching was good enough. It was so amazing to see them come through this small town. So many people love them, and don't even know about the new band til afterwards. They totally missed out. There's many people I know that don't even know how to use Twitter or bother with social media.
Anyway, Zavalaz is very different than the older work he's done. It is still very good stuff, and has that Cedric sound you will recognize. I will be buying the album once it's finished! :) Thanks for reading! |
